Getting to France
There’s no time like the present! But… for real, you should probably book 3-6 months in advance.
International/ long-distance travel
Flying
We recommend flying to Toulouse Airport (Toulouse-Blagnac).
From there you can get the free shuttle to Quamp. Arrive with wiggle room, 2-3 hours before the shuttle minimum.
Flights tend to go up and up in price so the sooner you book, the better. In most cases, the best time to purchase international flights to France in summer is at least 3-6 months in advance.
*Pro tip: If you are a bargain hunter, try creating price alerts and set a goal to book within a few weeks or a month.
We recommend using Skyscanner and Kayak for the best deals on flights, but then booking directly with the airline.
Trains
If you would like to take a train to Toulouse we recommend booking on Trainline.
You would arrive at Toulouse Train Station (Gare de Toulouse-Matabiau) and need to take a cab, or you can take a public transit shuttle service “Navette”, to the Toulouse-Blagnac Airport to join the free shuttle.

How do you get there?
#1 Free shuttle from Toulouse-Blagnac Airport
Free shuttles between Toulouse-Blagnac Airport and either Quamp location are available on arrival and check-out days. You can access shuttle bookings and scheduling in your customer portal.
If you’ve booked a shuttle from Toulouse, the pickup location is outside the front of the Starbucks located at the Toulouse Airport. You will likely run into fellow campers there! The shuttle picks you up promptly at your registered time.
Bookings must be made at least 3 weeks before your session begins.
*Reminder: because this is our first year, we’re starting as a project under Camp Château’s wing.
So the portal, automated email responses, and other invoices will have “Camp Château”, but we know you’re coming to Quamp!
#2 Driving & rentals
Rental cars are available at Toulouse, Paris, and Barcelona Airport (the three closest international airports), and there is plenty of free parking available at both Quamp locations.
Distance is in kilometers
100 kilometers = 62 miles = 20,000 wine bottles
French traffic signs are the same as other European traffic signs.
*Pro tip: Explicitly request an automatic car (and double-check your request) if you can not drive a stick-shift (manual transmission car). Manual transmission is the default in France.

#3 Carpooling
There are ride-sharing apps like BlaBlaCar that many Europeans recommend.
There is also a Quamper Discord server coming soon so you can plan travels with you fellow quampers, or simply say hello!
Travel Readiness
The necessary pre-travel checks and important information to have on-hand.
Your travel requirements
#1: Check border requirements
Please make sure that you check your travel requirements before planning your trip.
Check if you need a visa here: Visa wizard
See general international arrival regulations: Arrival in France
If you are traveling from the US, check ETIAS updates: ETIAS FAQs
If there is a sudden change in French visa regulations, we will try to notify quampers accordingly.
#2: Check your passport expiration date
Before arriving in France, make sure that your passport is fully up to date with the required wiggle room!
This usually means that the expiration date on your passport is more than 3 months after your intended departure date from France. Depending on where you are from, this requirement can be as long as 12 months after your intended return from France.
#3: Strongly consider travel insurance
We highly recommend obtaining travel insurance before your trip abroad. Trip protection & travelers’ health insurance.
There are many companies out there that provide excellent travel insurance coverage for trips, and we suggest exploring options to find a travel insurance provider that works for you. Coverage varies by company and depends on what you choose, but it's worth it when travelling internationally.
TIP: Some banks provide access to travel insurance at a cheaper cost, so you might already be eligible for affordable coverage through your bank or credit card provider.
Storing luggage
If you want to travel light, you can leave your luggage or small items at the baggage storage facilities at Toulouse Airport.
Toulouse-Blagnac Airport offers baggage storage facilities to lighten your load before taking a flight. The price of this service varies depending on the type of item stored and the length of time required.
The airport also offers a Colissimo shipping service.
So, you missed the bus…
If you have missed the bus rendezvous in Toulouse, contact us immediately so we can account for you and make sure you have all the information to get to your destination.
You can email us for non-medical travel emergencies at info@quampchateau.com and use “URGENT” in the subject line.
At this point, you will have two options. You can rent a car to drive yourself (see Driving & rentals), or you can use a private shuttle service (below).
Trusted private shuttle provider
Please be aware that the cost incurred from booking personally with a taxi service is not covered in your Quamp Château costs.
